THE RIGHT LADDER FOR EVERY HEIGHT
How to choose the ladder to lean against the wall based on the height needed to work or disembark
HOW TO CHOOSE THE LEANING TO THE WALL LADDER WITH THE NECESSARY HEIGHT
For all support ladders, both simple and multi-element, the total length of the ladder indicated in the catalogs is different from the useful height (vertical height inclined during use).
The support ladders can generally be used between 70 ° and 75 ° (by law ladders 65 ° / 75 ° and step ladders 60 ° / 70 °) for which it is possible to apply a simple formula to calculate the length of the scale needed according to your needs:
CALCULATE THE LENGTH OF THE LADDER (A) BASED ON THE SUPPORT HEIGHT (H)
CALCULATE THE LENGTH OF THE LADDER (A) BASED ON THE SUPPORT HEIGHT (H)
- Having the support height H (distance from the ground to the support point of the ladder) the formula is:
A = H+5%
A | lengh of the ladder |
H | height from the ground to the wall leaning point |
Example: if H is m 3,00 + 5% = m 3,15
(A = m 3,15 which is the length of the ladder to be supported in that point).
(A = m 3,15 which is the length of the ladder to be supported in that point).
- Having the leaning to the wall height HS (distance from the ground to the access point on a mezzanine, a roof or a cover) the formula is:
A = HS + m 1,00 +5%
A | lengh of the ladder |
H | height from the ground to the access point |
Example: if HS is m 3,00 + m 1,00 + 5% = m 4,20
(A = m 4,20 is the length of the ladder to be able to be supported at that point and arrive at that landing height by calculating m 1.00 of ladder that acts as a body guard / support for the operator during disembarkation.
It is also possible to do the opposite. The support height can be obtained on the basis of the ladder owned or chosen.
CALCULATE THE USEFUL SUPPORT HEIGHT (H) BASED ON THE LADDER (A)
Having the ladder with length A to understand at what height it can work, the formula is the following:
H = A/1,065
A | lengh of the ladder |
H | height from the ground to the access point |
Example: if A is m 3,00/1,053 = m 2,85
(H = m 2,85 which is the maximum height at which the ladder can be supported)
